Commenting on blogs Sep27 '04
Dale talks about commenting on web logs.
When you read a web log entry, and you are ready to comment with your thoughts, should you read the current comments first, or just go right ahead and post YOUR comment?
Does reading, or not reading, the current comments take any value away from your "already formed" opinion? Are the current comments a hindrance, or a benefit?
In my response, I mentioned Dunstan’s commenting system, which seems to be "light years" ahead of the rest. With Dunstan’s system, you can mention who inspired YOUR comment, whether it be the author himself, or a person who already commented. And, if you want, you can alert that person who inspired your comment, with an email – by simply checking a box.
Ingenious, functional, fun.
