Missing features drab Nov11 '04

Some days I get tired of not having certain web log features, such as trackback, and "Remember personal info?" Those two are the main features that are missing from my blog, and every day they feel more important.

Some days I feel like dumping it all, and moving everything to WordPress. But, after I sit on it for a few minutes, I realize that utilizing someone else’s system would make me have to rely on that system’s subtleties. I’d rather stick to my own system, at this point.

The features that are missing from my blog are pretty simple ideas. They just require a solid day or two of "trial and error," while I work out imperfections.

Unfortunately, right now I don’t have the luxury of a solid day or two, with absolutely nothing else to do.

Trackback

In order to get trackback to work, I have to gain a firm understanding of how trackback is received. I would have to have it inserted into my database, and then displayed as a comment. And each entry needs it’s own "trackback URI," as well.

This is just a couple JavaScript functions. Unfortunately – my web site relies on dynamic scripting, and sometimes when I include client–side scripting into an include, things don’t work as intended.

I am not asking for help – I am just thinking out loud. These are things that I need to sit down and really work with. Then I will have results.

But if I don’t have the time, then this discussion is for null.
