SMS craze Apr27 '05
I love SMS, which is an abbreviation for "Short Message Service."
Most recognizably – SMS is prevalent on cell phones, and PDA’s, in the form of "text messages."
SMS is popping up everywhere – from search capabilities, to advertisements, to voting.
As the technology, features, and availability improves, SMS will become a cornerstone for communication in the early 21st century.
My SMS
I send anywhere from 20 to 100 text messages a day, to various friends and co–workers, and my significant other.
I currently own a Nokia 6800, which is excellent for typing lots of text messages. The "flip open" key pad makes messaging easier on the thumbs.
This model also has some nice features, such as sending a text message to numerous people at once ("Send to many").
SMS resources
If you’d like to stay involved with SMS news, services, and history – some good sites/blogs are available:
- Textually.org
Textually.org is all about text messaging and how cell phones are being used around the world.
- Best Kept Simple.org
BestKeptSimple is a website that documents the gradual acceptance of SMS technology into our daily lives.
These two sites are updated very frequently – with worldwide, accurate information.
