The "swagger" of a red–hot team Jun02 '05
Ever get that "uh oh" feeling of nervousness, combined with inspiration?
Perhaps, you play sports now – or you did as a kid...
The games that you play one of the best teams in the league, everything seems a bit more intense.
As you see that team before the game, one of the best teams in the league, you notice a bit more "swagger" than most teams you’ve played.
You can tell by the way they walk; the way they talk to each other; their motions; their cohesiveness; their intensity.
Without acting any different than any other team, they somehow seem to "radiate" inspiration.
They’re just cool.
I feel that way right now, as the Cubs arrive in San Diego, to face the red–hot Padres, for four games.
The Cubs are on a winning streak of their own (6 games), so this series will definitely be a solid one.
But this morning, as I read over how well the Cubs did late last night, in their finale against the Dodgers, I couldn’t help but notice the preview for the San Diego series, which starts tonight.
I stared long and hard at the pitching probables and season stats for the Padres, and I certainly felt that "uh oh" feeling.
Things are about to get serious.
