Weird and annoying web site occurences Aug21 '05

Today, I’ve experienced a couple of weird web site occurences, that were actually quite aggravating.

Google, or SoGo?

First, I submitted a search at Google, through my search utility box, in Firefox, as I do perhaps hundreds of times per day:

Instead of the usual Google search results page, I was presented with this:

SoGo, instead of Google

I double-checked the address bar, and sure enough, it was google.com. Somehow I was being re-directed to this warez-looking search site. I tried another browser, Safari, and the same thing happened. Then, I went downstairs to our PC, and Google loaded fine.

I ended up having to re-start OS X, on my Mac, for the bug to go away.

Bloglines mobile - all the time

I appreciate Bloglines Mobile, because it allows me to check my Bloglines account from my cell phone. (Bloglines Mobile is a stripped-down version of the full-HTML site.)

However, sometimes Bloglines thinks I’m surfing from my cell phone, when I’m actually using a computer. So... no matter how many times I refresh the page, I am still presented with this very basic layout (which is perfect for cell phones, but sucks to read on a big monitor):

Bloglines should look something like this:

Bloglines

It’s finally back to normal, but after a five minute hiatus.
