Just wait a little bit Sep17 '05

Saturday’s are often more "reflective" days for me. You won’t see many "technical" posts.

I cherish the "let down" of Saturday’s, particularly in the cool September air - as the sun begins to set, around 5 PM. I’ve never appreciated a better moment in time, than Saturday’s at 5 PM, as that sun cascades down toward the horizon. I have the whole night ahead of me, if I so desire - and another peaceful day to follow.

In my "reflective" state that I am in now, I wanted to mention how important it is to wait, in regards to posting blog entries, blog comments, and every-day general activities.

For example, whenever I write a blog post, I always try to wait a little bit, before I actually post it. Because, sometimes after a day (or even an hour) that initial thought might not seem relevant anymore.

Also, another person’s blog entry might inspire us to comment immediately. But, after you think about it for a while - you may realize that you didn’t really want to respond anyway. Your point lacked total direction - and was shaped by spontaneity.

Sometimes, in the "hurried" nature of thoughts and ideas - it’s easy to immediately react - without thinking it through first.

Even beyond the world of web journals - waiting is the easiest and most valuable tool we have. You just have to know how to use it.

Inspiration

My inspiration, this evening, has come from a few sources (besides the cascading September sun):

I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab For Cutie (Plans - 2005)

Out Of My Hands - Dave Matthews Band (Stand Up - 2005)

Before Sunrise (1995), with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.
