Mac OS 10.4.3 update Nov12 '05
If you haven’t already done it, I suggest acquiring the latest Mac OS update - 10.4.3.
It’s an astounding update - that which has seemed to solve many of the "sluggish" issues that have lately been plaguing my 4-year-old G4 desktop.
Don’t believe that a simple OS upgrade can solve "sluggish" issues? Think again.
My Mac boots up extremely fast now. Instead of going through all the initialization tasks, at the log-in window, it simply says, "Starting Mac OS X," and flies directly into it. Boom. I hardly even notice that old log-in screen, because it goes by so fast, now.
To re-boot my Mac, or start it up from Shutdown - it used to take several minutes. Now - it’s under a minute - easily.
So... either Apple got rid of some of those initialization tasks, at startup, or my Mac suddenly had a re-birth. (I’m assuming option 1 is most accurate).
I’m waiting to see what other things I notice, that have possibly changed from this update.
