Google Calendar finally working Apr13 '06
I feel like I was last to get this, but this morning, I noticed Google Calendar is finally working for me.
I already use 30Boxes for my "calendar needs," so it’s not like I’m jumping right into Google Calendar... yet.
So far, I’ve just been playing around with the settings, and seeing what Google Calendar has to offer.
A few things I’ve noticed so far:
- No Gmail integration... yet. It would be most ideal to check my email, and my calendar, on the same page. I think this feature will be coming very soon.
- The "Share" settings seem spectacular. For instance, it looks like I can share my calendars with specific people, and even give them control to make changes and manage sharing. I can immediately envision a lot of "collaboration" ideas for work, friends, and family.
- The "Drag and drop" interface seems great too. For example, if I put an event on a certain day, and want to change the day, I can simply drag it to the next day. Smooth, seamless, simple.
- I like how alerts can be sent to your cell phone, as a text message. That is very handy.
I’ll be watching this service very closely, and debating whether or not to quit 30Boxes, and just use Google Calendar.
I also might work with Andy to create a more formal write-up, comparing both services.
