Mac not booting up Apr14 '06
I recently installed a new processor into my G4 desktop Mac. It’s a 1.3 GHz processor - up from the 867 MHz I had before.
Now it’s not booting up.
When I hit the power button on the Mac, I hear it starting up, but the light on the power button doesn’t stay on, and there’s no output on the monitor. But it starts up. I can hear it starting, and the fan is going.
I think the video card needs to be replaced.
I accidently scratched it, while installing the processor (click image to enlarge):
I drew in some arrows to point to the "scratch."
How did I scratch it all the way up there, you wonder? I was trying to "eject" the old processor, and the screwdriver slipped upward, and that’s where I hit it.
I’m not even sure it’s scratched in a bad spot - but maybe anywhere is bad.
I’m going to head to the Apple Store, here in town, to pick up a new video card.
What fun.
