Keyboard shortcut for my blog Apr26 '06

I’ve set up a keyboard shortcut for my blog - just for fun, and to get practice doing it.

Unfortunately, I only have it working in Firefox/Windows. I tested it in IE6/Windows - and it didn’t work.

I haven’t tested in Firefox/Mac, Safari, Camino, Opera, or anything else, for that matter. So if you’re currently viewing this entry in one of those browsers, please let me know if it works.

Here’s what it is:

When you’re viewing an archived blog entry, such as this page, you can hit the "F" key, and you’ll be taken directly to the feedback page. It’s even more intuitive than just that - because it brings you right to the feedback form, and puts the cursor in the textarea, so you can begin typing immediately.

So, for example - if you’re reading this entry in Firefox/Windows, and you want to leave feedback, you’d hit "F," and then start typing your comment.

Quick and easy.

I plan to get it working in IE6/Windows, and the other browsers, as well.

Here’s the JavaScript - in case you’re geeky, and curious. It’s pretty simple, so far, but I expect it to get quite convoluted when trying to gain browser support.

UPDATE: Camino, Safari, and Firefox on the Mac all work OK.
