My new black MacBook Jul25 '06
My new black MacBook is steaming hot (literally!).
The first thing I noticed was the much more responsive system - I’m used to a slow and sluggish OS X. But this puppy hums right along. Opening iPhoto (and loading all the photos) used to take over a minute. Now it’s open in mere seconds. And quitting applications is just as peppy.
Second, I was shocked at the built-in microphone. I am an avid user of GarageBand, and this is excellent for on-the-road recording with my guitar. I can sample new tunes, chords - or just about anything I want to save for later. Other than that, the most obvious application for the built-in mic is an 80 GB portable voice recorder. You’ll never run out of room for those voice notes, speeches, or podcasts.
Front Row is really neat. I haven’t yet hooked it up to my television, but I soon plan to. The remote works from across the room, and I can just imagine those dinner parties, showing the guests some recent vacation photos, by simply navigating it from a distance. Smooth. Front Row will make me look like a Pro.
Wireless. This is my first wireless notebook, and I have to say I love the freedom of working wherever I want, and always being connected to the net.
I’m just beginning to learn all the great things my MacBook can do, right out of the box. It’s truly an "all in one" laptop.
