Closing feedback on a blog entry Feb09 '07

Some blogs "close" feedback on entries that pass a certain amount of time.

I've never understood why a blog author would want to shut out comments, no matter how long it's been since the original post.

But I am beginning to understand a little better.

Here are some reason why a blog author may want to close comments on a particular entry:

In any of the above cases, the author may choose to close comments, and let the entry "rest in peace." It's still available for people to read, but comments are no longer necessary from the blog author's perspective.

I recently did this for Missed call from Omaha, since everyone was giving the exact same answer. The "value" of the comments was severely decreasing. All you had to do was read the first few comments, and you'd have had your answer.

This is an example of where I felt no further comments were necessary - the topic has been exhausted.
