Flickr Guest Passes Feb12 '07

Today I stumbled upon a pretty neat feature of Flickr - Guest Passes.

A Flickr Guest Pass allows non-members to view your private photo sets, without having to actually become a member. Guest Passes are temporary, and can expire whenever you choose.

Occasionally I'll mark some of my photo sets as private (for family or friends only). Sharing the URL to that set with a non-member would be useless - the private photos would remain hidden. However, using a Guest Pass, the non-member can view all of the photos, until I expire the Guest Pass.

To create a Guest Pass, choose a photo set that you'd like to share, then click Share this set:

If you just want the Guest Pass URL, bypass the option to have Flickr send the email, by clicking Send the link yourself:

Decide whether you want your guest to see other photos in your photostream (even private ones).

Then click GET THE LINK:

This link is similar to the original permalink for the set, but it allows access to private photos.

When you want to expire the link, go to your Invite History page, under the Guest Passes tab, and click Expire.

When your guest visits that link, and views your Flickr page, there will be a notice at the top of the page:
