On your recommendation, I bought an inexpensive (around 30 dollars) Wacom (Graphire3 I think) table for home use, mostly for experimentation with reducing wrist strain and pain. It works! I use it in tandem with a traditional mouse left-handed, and I like this setup.

I've been using this for about 4-5 months heavily, but I haven't noticed any difference in the pen. Can you describe what you mean by "it wears out?" I'm also thinking about upgrading to something more precise, because it works well for general tasks, but not well (counter-intuitively) in Photoshop in my experience.
