Tumblr: how blogging should be Apr13 '07

I like things that excite me and get my creative juices flowing. Tumblr is the most recent addition to that category.
Clearly, this is how blogging should have been from the beginning. Smashingly simple and intuitive, Tumblr is a blogger's dream.
Much like Twitter
Taking a slight cue from Twitter, Tumblr prides itself on quick and easy updates, without the hassle of coming up with full-length, organized blog entries. With Twitter and Tumblr, you just post it - now. Whatever you're doing, and whatever is inspiring you at any given second, is perfect criteria for a post.
This mindset of "post now, think later," is becoming very popular on the web.
Using Tumblr
Without any setup involved, Tumblr immediately lets you post fresh content in a variety of different formats: regular post, photo, link, quote, conversation, or video.

These are the most typical forms of content that people wish to share, and Tumblr makes it easy.
The best feature so far is the ability to import posts from any RSS feed. This means that I can clone the posts that I make on this site, and have them show up under my Tumblr account automatically.
The possibilities are endless. Much like Yahoo! Pipes, Tumblr can act like an "RSS mashup," where all feeds come together into one.
I've already added my Twitter, Flickr, and Google Reader Shared Items RSS feeds to Tumblr.

Customizing Tumblr
Tumblr strips away the technical learning curve that usually accompanies blogging packages. But it still allows for fine-tuned details, if you so desire. For example, you can customize your Tumblr page by using one of the provided themes, or by tweaking the HTML/CSS code yourself.

You can also use your own custom domain, rather the default username.tumblr.com.

Overall
I like to think of Tumblr as a step in between Twitter, and a full-blown blogging package. Tumblr is not involved as a normal blogging package, but more involved than Twitter.
I have yet to decide how I'm gonna utilize Tumblr on a daily basis, but I'd recommend it for anyone looking to start a blog quickly, without a lot of overhead.
