MLB.TV subscription

I've decided to put my Netflix membership on hold for a few months, and instead take out a membership for MLB.TV.

Right now I am paying $17.99 per month for Netflix, and MLB.TV is $19.99 per month.

This is almost an equally balanced swap, and the reasons are convincing enough:

  • Lately I haven't been very inspired with Netflix, but that could just be the quality of DVD's I am renting (not the fault of Netflix).
  • Baseball season is getting busy - the weather getting warmer, and the games getting better. I want to be involved with it as much as possible.
  • The time I used to spend on Netflix will be time I spend watching baseball. I won't have to juggle two separate subscriptions.

Time is the important thing here, and there's no way I could take advantage of Netflix and MLB.TV, simultaneously. For that, I'd need to quit my full-time job, so that's why I'm only going with one subscription.

Netflix makes it easy by allowing you to put your membership on hold, where no billing charges are accrued. Depending on how much I like MLB.TV, I may not start Netflix again until August or September.

An article in today's Chicago Tribune discusses the seamless integration of MLB.TV into any baseball fan's life.

I've tried MLB.TV once before - in 2005.
