Your health notebook Oct19 '07
Your health is the most important part of your life. Without it, you are nothing.
Do you keep track of your health? Do you document each ailment or illness that comes your way?
It's smart to keep a notebook or journal with notes pertaining to your ailment. Every time you feel sick, physically or mentally, you should document details about it.
I use Google Notebook now, but I used to have a full-blown blog (with comments, etc). Turns out I wanted more privacy, so I decided a private Google Notebook was the easiest approach.
Keeping a health notebook is as simple as using Microsoft Word, but having it online is nice, in that you can get to it from anywhere. Either way, just make sure you write it down somewhere. Preferably somewhere that is safe and secure, and won't get lost or destroyed. You'll want to keep this notebook for the rest of your life. Looking back on past ailments is extremely beneficial on helping resolve current ailments; finding trends; and being able to form comparisons.
Writing about your ailment also has a therapeutic effect in some situations.
Here are some important details to record in your health notebook:
- Date the ailment occurred, and how long it lasted until you reached a full recovery.
- Symptoms.
- History: have you experienced this before? If so, how was it handled then?
- Medicines taken, including prescriptions.
- Cost of prescription medications.
- Web research: what sites or forums helped you understand more about your ailment?
No information is too much. Write as much as you can. It will help you in the future.
It's never too late to start recording your health, and creating a better you.
